ATLANTA, GA — Today, an interfaith coalition of Georgia faith leaders announced Testimony Tuesdays, a bi-weekly advocacy campaign during the 2026 Georgia General Assembly session. Beginning Feb. 10, the leaders will meet with lawmakers from both parties to press for action on childcare access, comprehensive reproductive healthcare, Medicaid expansion, and ICE and immigration protections— issues they say are central to Georgia’s worsening quality-of-life outcomes.
“Every policy decision has real human consequences,” said Rev. Michael J. Schulte, Founding Pastor of The Collective ATL, a Lutheran church based in Atlanta. “Our faith traditions call us to pursue justice and care for the whole human. We may worship differently, but we are united in our call for peace and progress.”
The multi-racial, interfaith delegation includes Christian, Catholic, Sikh, Muslim, Jewish, and Hindu faith leaders from across the state. Scheduled advocacy days include:
- February 10 Early Childhood Education Access & Funding
- February 24: Comprehensive Reproductive Health
- March 10: Medicaid Expansion & Pride to the Capitol Day of Action in partnership with Human Rights Campaign GA
- March 24: ICE & Immigration Protections
As faith leaders expand their roles beyond the pulpit, Testimony Tuesdays reflect a growing movement of clergy and lay faith leaders who are increasing their visibility and influence. From leading community protests to social media training and voter registration drives, they are putting their bodies and beliefs on the frontlines of civic and policy fights that harm their congregants and communities.
“The country is at a crossroads,” said Jeanné Lewis, CEO of Faith in Public Life Action, the lead convener and organizer of the series. “Faith leaders in Georgia and across the country are showing up boldly at protests and advocating in private to demand moral clarity from our government officials. Testimony Tuesdays is about using our collective power to set a new standard, get people the care they need, and hold leaders accountable. We are the conscience of our political representatives. Lawmakers will listen or risk losing their seats this November.”
